After entering MadCat by selecting the Basic, Guided or Course Reserve search, select the "New in MadCat" button at the top of the screen. Updated every Wednesday. Search by keyword "women" and other relevant keywords (e.g., "gender," lesbian," "mother," etc.), each in separate searches. Keyword search for "HQ" will turn up books classified by the Library of Congress classification for many women/gender books (plus occasional foreign words that have an "hq" combination in them).

Core Books Database

The CORE BOOKS DATABASE is intended to assist librarians in building women's studies collections and to serve as a guide for teaching faculty in selecting available course readings among books currently in print. It includes books on a number of women's studies topics and is updated annually. Titles no longer in print are dropped, and newly published titles added. The topics are compiled by the Women's Studies Section, Association of College and Research Libraries and mounted by the University of Wisconsin System Libraries.
