ID: GLSHW-SEARCH About Searching the History of Women & Science, & Tech Bib. Using the current search mechanism, when you do a search for a word appearing in the bibliography, the system will first respond with a list of the chapters in the bibliography in which this term occurs (listed roughly in order of occurrences/prominence in the chapter). If you then choose a chapter, the system does not bring you directly to the term, but instead shows you the entire chapter, beginning with the first page of that chapter. You must scroll down to find your term, which in many systems will be highlighted. To find an author, you may find it more efficient to do a traditional search using the author index. Select Author Index from the History of Women & Science, Health & Technology bibliography menu, then the choice for the first letter of the author's name. Scroll through the authors in the index beginning with that letter until you find the name, which will be followed by numbers corresponding to entries in the body of the bibliography for that author. Jot down the entry numbers and return to the Hist. of Women & Science, Health, & Technology menu, where you will see a range of entry numbers for each chapter heading. Select the chapter(s) including the entry numbers you are looking for, and scroll through the chapter until you reach the number(s).
